Relic, a sixteen-year-old demigirl, is trapped between two worlds: non-binary and girl, witch and non-magickal life. When Relic meets a spirit who has no memories and no desire to pass on at all, she is given an ultimatum by the Death Muses who control the realm. Either she passes on the spirit or she will be banished from the Passing Realm and cursed with death.
Will she deny herself and her gender in order to help a lost soul pass on into the afterlife? Or will she fight for who she is, only to be condemned to die?
